Creation of organizational fire protection measures

The need for organizational measures results from special building regulations and the Occupational Safety and Health Act with its subordinate directives, ordinances and accident prevention regulations (see also DGUV regulation 1 “Principles of prevention”).

Typical organizational measures are:

  • Appointments of fire protection officers, fire protection workers or self-help workers
  • Creation and introduction of fire protection regulations
  • Instructing employees in the safe handling of equipment and highly flammable substances, formulation of appropriate operating instructions
  • Conducting clearance and evacuation exercises
  • Creation of evacuation concepts for e.g. places of assembly according to § 42 Abs. 1 SBauVO or sales outlets according to § 86 Abs. 1 SBauVO
  • Instruction in the correct use of fire extinguishers
  • Marking of escape routes
  • Creation and maintenance of escape and rescue plans, fire brigade plans and detector route cards
